Octopus is an
online poetry magazine that was founded in the spring of 2003 by Tony Tost and Zachary Schomburg. It is named after a sea
creature that is intelligent, lives in dens, and uses ink as a defense
mechanism. Every issue features a combination of 8.

We read submissions
of poetry for Octopus Magazine during the month of August (2008). Please send a
friendly number of poems in one MS Word attachment before August 31. Introduce
yourself to us in the body of the email and feel free to include a list of
previous publications, if any.

For guidelines for
submitting manuscripts to Octopus Books, go here.
All rights revert to the authors upon publication in Octopus, and the works can
then be subsequently published, though we ask that Octopus get its props as the
place of initial publication. We'll accept simultaneous submissions,
just let us know if it is accepted elsewhere. We do not consider previously
published work.
